Nissan is one of the oldest automotive companies in the world. In 1912 Datsun was established to design  and produce small-size passenger vehicles.

In 1926, the company began producing commercial transport trucks and by the early 1930s,passenger      vehicles were produced under the name of Datsun again. In 1933, the  management decided to change the name to Nissan, the brand name for heavy and commercial vehicles, while Datsun was reserved for passenger vehicles.

In the early 1960s, Datsun established its name in the international market, successfully making its first delivery   to Norway. In 1961, it established its first international branch in the United  States. In 1962, the company began to manufacture outside of Japan – in Mexico, and Australia in 1976. By the end of 1988, Nissan had become the brand name for all vehicles and models produced by the company.
